Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman announced on  Monday that the regulator will hold the country’s long-awaited 5G spectrum auction between April and May this year.

Speaking at a ceremony attended by Malaysian telecom officials, he acknowledged existing delays in the rollout of 5G services in Pakistan.

 

 

In the same event, Minister of State for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja noted that Pakistan was getting closer to the launch of 5G as planning and consultations were well underway.

The arrival of 5G in Pakistan will further boost economic activity and drive digital transformation, the minister added.
